Well, I had a bright and early start on sunday morning as I had to be in Manchester city centre by 9am to shoot one of the biggest 10K events on the sporting calendar. This year, over 31,000 people ran the famous race, including a host of well known faces from the world of tv, music and sport running for their favourite charities.

Here’s a handful of shots from the day.

Celebrities from Hollyoaks, Eastenders and Coronation Street wave to the crowds on the start line:

Kelvin Fletcher (Emmerdale’s Andy Sugden), Sarah Dunn (Ex-Hollyoaks) and John Altman (‘Nasty’ Nick Cotton from Eastenders) make their way to the start line:

‘Blind’ Dave ( is one of the first athletes away.  Having recently completed an unbelieveable SEVEN marathons on SEVEN continents in SEVEN days, this 10K distance didn’t worry him too much!

United and City Legend, Denis Law was the races official starter and kept himself busy fooling around with celebrity pal, Gordon Burns:

Denis Law gets the race underway and cheers every single person through the start line:

It was great to see so many people really getting into the spirit of the day!

Finally, Europe’s tallest residential building, Beetham Tower, towers over the finish line:

After shooting the band live, they needed some more traditional, posed shots to use with press releases, to supply to magazines and for their studio wall!  So we wandered out for an hour one evening and came across a great location.  A boarded up house literally a stone’s throw from the city centre.

We had literally been there for five minutes when out of nowhere came six of our finest local constabulary who demanded to know what we were up to!  A local curtain twitcher had spied us from her window and phoned the police convinced that we were (and I quote) ‘kicking the door in’!!!

Anyway, the bobbies were great about it, had a good laugh with us and left us to it and we got some great shots.

Hi everyone,

To kick things off I’m going to give you a taste of some work I’ve done for a recently signed Manchester band, Kid British and the Action Manky (

They’ve just signed a deal with Mercury records and are tipped to be the next big thing!

This sequence of shots is from a gig they played at Manchester’s legendary Roadhouse. This is where EVERYONE on the Manchester scene started out – Oasis, The Stone Roses, The Happy Mondays, you name them, they’ve played here!

Welcome to Jonny Draper Photography’s ‘blog!

Here I aim to keep you up to date with what, where and who I’ve been shooting and also give you a little sneak peek at the shots themselves.

Thanks for looking!
